Bridget Jackson - England Golf Hall of Fame 2024

In a previous article you would have read about the induction of Bridget Jackson, MBE, into the inaugural England Golf Hall of Fame.

For many years, Bridget has graced the game as an exceptional amateur golfer, administrator, and constant supporter of our County,

Here are some of the achievements which make for great reading:

  • Won the Amateur Girls Championships in 1954 before triumphing at the German Open Championship and English Womens Amateur in 1956
  • Represented Britain in 5 Vagliano Trophies, winning on 3 occasions, and played for Britain in the first edition of the Commonwealth Trophy in 1959
  • In 1964 was selected as playing Captain by England to play in the first ever Espirito Santo Trophy at the World Amateur Team Championships and won a bronze medal
  • Won 6 out of 9 Home Internationals for England and played in 3 Curtis Cups
  • Won the SLCGA County Championship 12 times
  • Played for the County from 1954 - 1988, winning 74 foursomes out of 126 and winning 95 singles out of 138
  • SLCGA - County Captain 1961 - 1962
  • SLCGA Secretary 1978 - 1983
  • SLCGA President 1988 - 1989
  • 1968 - 1973 Staffordshire Representative for the Midland Division of ELGA (English Ladies’ Golf Association), Chair from 1969 to 1971 and President from 1993 -1995.
  • Winner of the Midland Championship 7 times
  • 1998 appointed President of the Ladies Golf Union and subsequently an Honorary Vice President.
  • Awarded the MBE in 2003
  • An Honorary Member of the Royal Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews

I am sure you will all agree with me that this is an outstanding record which is now correctly recognised with this inclusion into the Hall of Fame. She has been a leader in the Staffordshdire ‘Hall of Fame’ from 1954 to current day.
