2024 Staffordshire Girls County Champion
Congrstulations to Olivia Whittle on this years Championship win.
This years event took place at Trentham Park G C.
Hiya, I am Kennedy Murphy, and I am the first Junior Handicap Captain, and this is my seventh year involved with the County.
My first ever win was in October 2018 for the County Beginners Championship, and since then I have played in many handicap and a couple of scratch matches.
I am in my second year as an England Golf Young Ambassador, focusing on the importance of us juniors and how our voices can shape change.
My home club is The South Staffordshire G C and I am proud to have been selected as their 2024 Junior Captain.
Golf has taught me that teamwork is vital and I hope to reflect this in the coming season. I am looking forward to our 2024 adventure!
2024 - Junior County Captain Olivia Whittle
Hi, I am Olivia Whittle and I have been involved with the County Juniors for quite some time now, this is my 10th and final year as a junior and I am very happy to be Junior Captain.
I have played in many handicap and scratch matches over the years and over the last couple of years I have been selected to play for the Ladies 1st Team and play in County Week, which is a great experience.
Last year I was happy to achieve the Junior County Championship and the Women's County Championship, this was a tough match taken to the 20th hole.
I feel with my experiences going through the pathway over the years and also being England Regional Captain for the past 2 years I can help all our juniors in many different ways.
In August I will be going to America to study and play golf which I am excited about.
2022 - County Captain Holly Branson
Hi, I’m Holly Branson, and I am the Captain of the Junior Girls’ Team for Staffordshire County Golf for 2022. I play off a handicap of 2.5.
I am 17 years old and a member of Beau Desert Golf Club, and a student at Walton High School, Stafford.
I have played golf since I was 11 and started the coaching programme with the County when I was about 13. I went to an open day to see what it was like and enjoyed it so much that I wanted to be involved.
I entered the Rabbits competition, and won, which then progressed me to the Solheim Squad at the Chase Golf Club.
Each year I joined the training by the County and became part of the Elite Squad in 2018. Then in 2021 I was invited to be the Captain for 2022. I was delighted to accept.
The thing I love most about County Golf is spending time with the other members of the Squad, and also members from other Counties and Clubs.
I have learned a lot about myself where I don’t have to be on my best game all of the time. I love being part of a team and supporting each other is really important to me.
I have the opportunity to play in major competitions, and I am encouraged to enter championships, so that I can push myself to improve.
If a new golfer asked me ‘ why should I get involved with Staffs County Golf?’ I would tell them that this would be a great opportunity to access high quality coaching, as well as making lifelong friends and getting that encouragement to become part of the team. Also, they would have a lot of fun.
