THE ROLE OF A COUNTY DELEGATE  - Click here to Download

The role of a County Delegate is an active role as opposed to a passive one.
You represent your Club at the Executive Committee Meetings and you are required to actively communicate information from the County to your Committee and Members.
A Delegate should be prepared to serve for several years for consistency as it takes time to understand the extent of the role.
It is not necessary for the Delegate to be a member of the  Committee however, the Delegate should attend the  Committee Meetings to report back on County matters, thus ensuring information is passed on to the  Secretary, Handicap Secretary, Match Captains and Junior Organiser.
A Delegate should attend ALL County Meetings or send someone else to represent their Club.
There should be a section of the notice board in the ladies’ locker room specifically for County information. For tournament information, posters and entry sheets, junior information, newsletters and County Executive Committee Minutes to be displayed.
The website address should be displayed so that members may get up to date information.
County fixtures should be downloaded from the website either by the delegate and then distributed to the ladies, or by the ladies themselves.   The delegate will then need to explain and remind the ladies how the competitions work, especially at the beginning of the year.
It is particularly important to brief new ladies on the competitions and the role of the County.
Delegates should encourage an interest in the County within the Club. Encourage members to enter the County competitions and to come along to the County Matches at all levels – 1st team, 2nd team, Junior’s - to watch and support them.  A County Match week is held each year in June, and the 6 counties take their turn in hosting this event. Supporters are most welcome and the admission is always free!
In order to maximise entries at County events, it is expected that the delegate will liaise with their Fixtures Secretary to ensure that dates for Club and County do not clash.
County Delegates must ensure that the County are advised of any club official changes when they happen.
Also, the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) Consent Form must be completed by all club committee officials (Lady Captain, Secretary, Delegate, and Handicap Secretary) and returned to the County Secretary.
