2nd Team News 2025

County Finals at Longcliffe v Nottinghamshire - 5 September 

Unfortunately the 2nd team were defeated 5-4 in the MNR County Finals. It came down to the last match out there so very close indeed.
We were trailing 2-1 at lunchtime and halved the afternoon singles 3-3. 
It’s been a brilliant season for Team Staffs and a pleasure to watch you all play great golf. 
Thank you everyone who played for the 2nd team this year, we’ve had some fun.

Match Report - 11th August

11th August v Derbyshire

         Champions at Chevin! 

The last match of the season for the 2nd team finished with a 7-2 win against Derbyshire. 

After winning the morning foursomes 3-0, we only needed one more point to secure our place in County finals to defend the trophy. 

This was secured early on with a brilliant 8&7 win by Caitlin. 

A very hot day on a tricky course but it didn’t seem to effect our ladies. 

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this years success. Great golf and team spirit has continued throughout. 

We head to Longcliffe Golf Club on Friday 5th September for County Finals

Match Reports - 10th, 24th & 31st July

10th July v Shropshire 

Our first Cup Match for 2025 was at Hawkstone Park against Shropshire. On the hottest day of the year so far, we won the morning foursomes 2-1 and the afternoon singles 4-2, winning 6-3 overall. 

A great start to the season with a hint of sunburn amongst us! I was glad to be following the team on the buggy that day.

24th July v Derbyshire

Our first home match was at Enville against Derbyshire. The morning didn’t go our way as we were trailing 2-1 at lunch against a strong Derbyshire side. 

The ladies battled back to win the singles 5-1, winning 6-3 overall. 

A great result for Staffs with brilliant team spirit.

31st July v Shropshire 

Our return game for Shropshire was again at Enville. Following our two previous match wins we were in high spirits. 

This led to a brilliant 7-2 victory against Shropshire. Great to see some excellent golf from both teams. 

Well played and thank you to the team - Tracey Klek, Mia Perks, Debbie Loach, Terri Smith, Rachel Birch, Issi Bryon. 

The 2nd Team are undefeated winning 3 out of 3 matches as we work our way to reach the County Finals to defend our title. 

As it stands Derbyshire have played 2 and lost 1. 

Shropshire have played 3 and lost 3. 

It’s all to play for next week as we head to Chevin for our final match.
